In the spring of 2015, I was approached to do a freelance project for the University of Wyoming's MLKDOD planning committee. The project? To develop a new logo for group, develop the brand image and design all of the marketing materials to be used to promote the week-long social justice event. No big deal. The MLKDOD committee, (which, by the way, MLKDOD stands for Martin Luther King, Jr. Days of Dialogue,) organizes a week-long series of events, hosted in the Wyoming Union, dedicated to educating, inspiring and encouraging dialogue among students regarding social justice issues. These issues can include, but are not limited to, gender equality, LGBTQ rights, income inequality and racial inequality. During the week, students are encouraged to attend the seminars, coffee-chats and keynote presentations, with the goal, ultimately, being to get students talking about social justice.
